When you are searching for a new towboat and all the models to choose from, it can be tough to get an idea of what you are actually going to spend on a new boat. MasterCraft has four series of wakeboard/wakesurf boats, which are the NXT, XT, X, and XStar series. Additionally, MasterCraft also makes the most award-winning waterski boat available, the Prostar.

What is MSRP?

Before we jump into how much each specific model costs lets go over what MSRP means, and what actually goes into the price of a boat. All boats come with a MSRP price similar to what you would find in the car, RV, or powersports industry.

To put it simply MSRP stands for Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price, which is the value that the manufacturer places on each boat. Keep in mind that the manufacturer won’t be the one actually selling you the boat, as these manufacturers only sell to customers through approved dealerships. If boats are in high demand you might end up paying close to that MSRP number, but typically dealers run promotions throughout the year which means you will end up paying less than MSRP.

What goes into pricing?

A boat’s price is compiled by looking at the base boat cost, options equipped, engine, and trailer (when applicable). Additionally, things like dealer freight and prep also influence the price of a boat. Depending on what options are added to the boat, they can significantly affect the price. Major factors include:

  • Gel coat color
  • Dash/screen package
  • Tower
  • Sound system
  • Lighting packages
  • Surf system
  • Interior vinyl options
