Are you wondering what to bring on the boat for your upcoming lake adventures? We have you covered!

It’s that time of year again when we need to prepare for boating once again. It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to boating or have been boating your whole life, it always takes a trip or two out on the water to put together a list of essential boating accessories. To make that process easier, we’re here to help.

We have compiled a list of the top 5 boating accessories to take on your boat. Now, we’re not talking about safety gear here. We’re talking about the fun accessories that make or break your day on the water.

Let’s dig into these five accessories to make sure you and your family have the best time on the water from the start of the season to the final day. You won’t be disappointed that you looked at this list.

1. Grab Your Favorite Boards

What’s a day on the water without your favorite boards. Whether you’re skiing, wakeboarding, or surfing, you can’t leave the dock without them. A day on the water should always start with an activity and what is better than a water sport.

And while you’re gathering your favorite boards, don’t forget to grab ropes as well. From experience, I can tell you that there is nothing worse than getting out on the water and all set up just to realize you don’t have your rope. This is your reminder to remember all the boating accessories.

2. At Least One Tube

Though this may be obvious, you can’t head to the water without a tube within reach. Even if your plans don’t include tubing, they make for the perfect floaties. You never know when someone will decide they want to give tubing a try so it’s best to be prepared.

And for the second time, don’t forget the respective ropes. Tubing ropes are much different than ropes used for water sports so make sure you’re ready.

3. All the Floaties

Floaties cannot be forgotten. They can make or break a day on the water. Especially on a warm sunny day. Be sure to bring all the noodles, loungers, and any other floats along for the day.

There’s nothing worse than wanting to float and realizing your only floaties onboard are your orangey life jackets. Though, they work, they’re not the most comfortable. Which is why we recommend bringing your favorite floaties while packing the boating accessories.

4. …Water mat

A water mat is the perfect accessory to bring out on the water. You can attach it to the boat while you float in the middle of the lake or if you anchor up at your favorite sandbar. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the benefits of a water mat.

You can float on it, chat on it, set drinks on it, or it makes for a great wrestling rink as well. Whichever activity sounds more like your group of people, it’s not a bad idea to bring a water mat along for a day on the water.

5. Don’t Forget the Cooler

This is obviously a necessity. You should never leave the dock without a cooler because long days on the water and in the sun can be very unenjoyable without some water. And, of course, your drinks of choice as well.

You can also stock the cooler full of snacks which are much needed after some long hours on the water. You can pack sandwiches, chips and dips, fruits, veggies and whatever else sounds good. Prepare for a long day on the water with a fully stocked cooler of food and drinks.
