The reason e-foiling is gaining popularity is because of how easy it is to learn. With several different boards and set-ups, it’s a great sport regardless of age and skill level. Which leads us to the growing popularity of this water sport

Now that you understand why many families love to e-foil, it’s time to learn how to get up on an e-foil. This is step one to mastering the exciting e-foil. Let’s get to it!

Understanding Your Equipment

Before heading to the lake with an e-foil, it’s important to know about the different pieces and parts. E-foils can be deconstructed to make them easy to carry and transport wherever you’re going. While this is very convenient, it’s a good idea to know the different parts.

Parts of an E-Foil

  1. The Board: Just like any other water sports, you’re going to need a board to ride on.
  2. Foil: The foil is required to lift you out of the water and power the e-foil.
  3. Motor: In order for this produce to be an “e” – foil, you will need the motor to power your ride.
  4. Battery: To power the motor, a battery is necessary as a power source.
  5. Remote: The remote is used to control your speed, acceleration, and to kill the motor if you fall.

Along with the parts of the e-foil, you’ll also need safety gear while riding an e-foil.

Safety Gear

  1. Life Jacket: By law, you must wear a life jacket while operating an e-foil.
  2. Helmet: Protect your head while riding on an e-foil.

First Ride

With all your gear and equipment ready, it’s time to prepare for your first ride. When taking your first ride on an e-foil, it’s a great idea to have an expert there to walk you through the initial steps. However, if you don’t have someone to teach you, we’re here to help.

We recommend taking several factors into consideration. These factors include the location, the weather, and the boat traffic of the day. For your first time, you’ll want to make sure to find a nice calm lake. It’ll make learning much more enjoyable and less stressful.

After finding the perfect spot to take your first ride on an e-foil, we recommend going through a pre-ride checklist. Checking things like the battery level, making sure all the screws are tight, and make a plan of what to accomplish will help to make your time on the water enjoyable.

Mastering Technique

With your board ready to go and the perfect location picked out, it’s time to jump on the e-foil. Before you take off to jump in the water, we have some techniques and hints to help you be successful on the water.

Getting Started

Alright, it’s time to grab the e-foil and head to the water. With the board in the water begin by laying flat on the board, just like you would a surfboard (true surfing). Make sure you have the remote around your wrist and you’re holding it in your hand.

Start adding speed to begin the motion. As you get going, add more speed to lift the board out of the water. This will allow the “foil” to begin to work.

Riding Position

With the board out of the water and cruising along, it’s time to get on the board. Slowly transition from a laying position to a kneeling position. Find your balance at a kneeling position before transitioning to standing.

Standing Up

Now that you’re balanced in a kneeling position it’s time to stand up. The goal at this step is to maintain your balance. If you can maintain your balance standing, you will be a master of an e-foil in no time.

Remember that if you fall, don’t give up. It may take a few rides to feel comfortable on the water. Nonetheless, you’ll become an expert in no time!
