We’re here to help answer all the questions that you may have about MasterCraft pricing.

Boat pricing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it shouldn’t feel confusing. The goal of this page is simple: help you understand what actually goes into the price of a MasterCraft, why prices vary, and how to evaluate true value beyond the sticker price.

What Factors Drive the Price Up?

Model & Size

Every MasterCraft is built with the same attention to detail, premium materials, and craftsmanship. Where pricing begins to change is in model selection, size, and trim level. Each series is designed for a specific lifestyle and performance goal, so pricing reflects how much technology, customization, and added comfort is built into the boat.

The biggest differentiator is the series (trim level): Should we use the same explanation MasterCraft uses to describe the different models?   Some of the explanations below may be confusing.

  • NXT Series ($135,000–$160,000): Ideal for families who want premium build quality and performance without the highest-level tech packages.
  • XT Series ($170,000–$240,000): Adds upgraded surf technology, more comfort features, and greater customization for boaters who want versatility across surfing, wakeboarding, and cruising.
  • X Series ($315,000–$350,000): Designed for peak surf performance with luxury materials, advanced technology, and industry-leading innovation.
  • XStar ($425,000–$500,000): The flagship model, combining elite surf and wake performance, premium finishes, and cutting-edge technology that pushes the industry forward.
  • ProStar ($120,000–$140,000): A world-class tournament ski boat built for precision, control, and the smoothest wakes possible.

Each series includes standard features specific to that trim, with optional upgrades that can enhance performance, comfort, technology, and increase the final price accordingly.

Brand Quality

When comparing boat brands, prices often reflect long-term quality. MasterCraft boats are engineered to last, perform, and deliver a premium on-water experience year after year.

Here are a few features that set MasterCraft apart:

  • SurfStar System: Each surf system is engineered specifically for its hull, producing a more consistent and customizable wave than one-size-fits-all surf tabs.
  • Sea Trials: MasterCraft boats undergo hours of Open Ocean trials to put the boats through extreme testing in the harshest conditions to ensure your new MasterCraft is ready for your families’ boating adventures.
  • Exclusive Ilmor Engines: Built specifically for MasterCraft through an exclusive partnership, Ilmor engines deliver elite performance, proven reliability, and one of the longest warranties in the industry (7 years).
  • Interior Comfort: Each MasterCraft is designed by an ergonomics specialist using premium vinyls and foams in multiple densities to give your family the ultimate comfort.
  • Premium Fit & Finish: From the premium interior materials to the intentionality focused on the smallest details, MasterCraft boats reflect high-end craftsmanship throughout.

This level of quality carries through long after the purchase, creating real long-term value for owners. MasterCraft-certified technicians are trained specifically on these systems, ensuring your boat is serviced correctly and maintained to factory standards throughout its life. Combined with strong brand demand and proven durability, MasterCraft boats consistently hold their value on the preowned market, making ownership a smarter investment over time.

Dealership Experience

Not all dealerships operate the same way. A higher initial investment often reflects the level of service, transparency, and long-term support you receive.

At AWS, our focus is ownership experience, not just the transaction. When working with AWS, you can expect this support –

  • Fewer surprises after the sale
  • Complimentary lessons: our team of instructors are committed to helping you learn to operate and understand the features of your new boat and learn new skills behind the boat like surfing, wakeboarding or skiing.
  • A Proshop stocked with all the gear you may need
  • Service centers stocked with over $1 million in parts making repairs quick
  • For extended repairs, we have a loaner boat program
  • Maintained resale outcomes when it’s time to upgrade

Our goal is to keep your boat on the water so you can enjoy quality time with family and friends spend less time in our service department. Whether it’s normal maintenance or an urgent fix, we are equipped to get you back on the water quickly.

Additional Purchases

Boat ownership involves more than just the sticker price. Some costs may be optional, but it’s important to understand what’s included and what may be added:

  • Extended Service Contracts ($500–$6,000): Pricing depends on model, coverage level, and duration.
  • Warranty Transfers ($500–$2,000): If purchasing preowned, MasterCraft charges a fee to transfer factory coverage for the boat, engine, and touchscreen systems.
  • Dockside Service: Available for owners who prefer on-site maintenance, priceed based on distance and service needs.

Location & Freight

At Action Water Sports, freight and prep fees are already included in our advertised pricing.

Some dealerships may advertise lower upfront prices, then add freight and prep fees later. Always ask for a detailed quote so you’re comparing total costs, not partial numbers.

What Factors Drive the Price Down?

Model & Trim Selection

Just as higher trim levels increase pricing, selecting a lower trim level can reduce cost. While features and technology may differ, the core build quality and craftsmanship remain the same across all MasterCraft models.

Whether opting for an NXT20 or an XStar, you can expect the same quality across the brand. You can also expect the same level of care from the team here at AWS as we value each and every one of our customers.

Trade-Ins

Trading in your current boat is one of the easiest ways to lower your out-of-pocket cost:

  • Sales tax savings — you only pay tax on the price difference
  • Simplified process — avoid the hassle of listing, showing, and selling your boat privately
  • Time savings — avoid off-season storage and service expenses

Start your estimate today on our Trade-In Value Page.

MSRP vs. Final Sale Price

In boating, MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) is a starting point and oftentimes not the final number.

  • The marine industry often sees discounts around 15% below MSRP, depending on model, time of year, and factory incentives
  • MSRP varies by engine choice, features, and region
  • Final pricing reflects factory incentives, dealer preparation, freight and added accessories

It’s not uncommon to see a fairly high MSRP on a boat. Just note that prices are likely not the final sale price.

What Makes Some Companies So Expensive?

Higher prices often reflect:

  • Quality of materials
  • Long-term support
  • Long-term ownership value and resale value
  • Location

A Few Reasons Why MasterCraft’s are Priced as They are

MasterCraft’s long-term commitment shows up in ownership value:

  • Certified technicians trained on evolving systems
  • On going service bulletins, Maintenance tracking and reminders
  • High demand in the used market allowing used boats to hold value for many years

Different Fits — Not Cheap vs. Expensive

Every boater has different priorities on the water, and that’s exactly why boat pricing varies across the board. Instead of looking at a number on a price tag, we focus on what each model offers for your lifestyle: the right features, the right layout, and the right performance to match how you want to enjoy the water.

Maybe you’re dialing in the perfect wave every weekend, or maybe you’re all about relaxing cruises and family time at the sandbar. Whatever your style, we’ll guide you to the boat that fits your needs. Because the best value comes from a boat that brings your family together on the water, season after season.

What Makes Some Companies So Cheap?

Lower prices often reflect shortcuts:

  • Generic surf systems
  • Lack of engineering and design
  • Economy-grade materials throughout build
  • Minimized components and reduced schedule of materials construction
  • Under-powered engines
  • Lower long-term value and resale value

While initial pricing may look appealing, long-term ownership costs and resale value often cost you more. can take a hit. Be sure to do plenty of research before letting a sticker price catch your attention. It may save you in the long-run.

Where Do Our Prices Fall?

We’re rarely the cheapest option on the market, and that’s by design. Our focus is on offering boats that are fairly priced while continuing to invest in the people who support you long after the sale, ensuring a lifetime of hassle-free boating.

From certified technicians and over a million dollars in stocked parts to knowledgeable sales and service teams, our investment in expertise ensures you receive proper support, trusted guidance, and reliable support throughout your ownership. That level of care is reflected in a higher initial price, but it also means your boat is built to last—so you can enjoy more time on the water, with fewer interruptions.

Within the premium towboat category, our pricing remains highly competitive. And while you may pay more for a premium brand, premium boats are built to a quality standard—not a price point—which means stronger construction, better performance, and long-term durability. We pair that level of craftsmanship with fair, competitive pricing and award-winning service dedicated to keeping you on the water, hassle-free. The goal isn’t to be the lowest number on a price sheet, but to deliver lasting value you can feel in every outing and rely on for years to come.

Industry Variations

MasterCraft is widely regarded as one of the strongest brands in the towboat industry, alongside other leaders like Nautique and Malibu. These three brands have spent decades earning their reputation through proven results on the water. Just as important, they’re mostly backed by extensive dealer networks, which typically means better long-term service, support, and ownership care.

Below these “top three,” there are several well-known brands that are slightly less established but still offer solid options for many families. Brands like Moomba, Centurion, and Axis provide capable boats that can be a good fit for buyers who don’t need top-tier features, customization, or performance.

No matter which brand you’re considering, remember that dealerships vary just as much as boats. Taking the time to research both the brand and the dealer will help ensure a better ownership experience long after the purchase.

Lifetime Cost vs. Initial Price

The purchase price is only part of boat ownership. Common ongoing costs include:

  • Storage: Indoor (~$1,300) or outdoor shrink wrap (~$450)
  • Winterization: ~$515 (Northern climates)
  • Maintenance:
    • Oil changes every 30–50 hours (~$250)
    • Impeller replacement every 1–2 years (~$50)
  • Equipment: Boards, ropes, safety gear
  • Docks & Lifts:
    • Dock sections (~$1,500 per 10’)
    • Boat lifts ($15,000–$30,000+)
  • Tow vehicles or pick-up/delivery services
  • Marina fees

Planning ahead helps ensure stress-free ownership. We’re happy to help you price out your specific situation. Whether you own a house on the lake, are planning on trailering your boat all over the country, or have a slip at a marina, we’re here to help you make the boat ownership process as simple as possible.

How Pricing Has Changed in the Last Five Years

  • COVID-era demand drove prices up significantly
  • Supply chain disruptions increased material costs
  • Labor investment improved quality but raised production costs
  • Continued demand for premium surf boats supports strong resale values

Most Common Financing Questions

Boat financing can be simpler and smarter than most people expect. Here are a few of the most common questions that we get:

  • Do I have to finance? Absolutely not, but financing your new boat can unlock additional savings or incentives.
  • What are current interest rates? Rates vary depending on individual qualifications, but our team can help you secure the most competitive financing through our partner banks. Currently, we’re seeing rates around 7.99% APR for up to 240 months with 20% down.
  • How long is the loan term? We typically recommend around 180 months (15 years) for the best balance of payment and flexibility.
  • Why is the financed price cheaper than the cash price? When you finance through one of our partner lenders, they often provide a incentive to the dealership that isn’t available on cash deals. That incentive helps us offer you a better price when you choose to finance—so it’s a win for both you and us.

Understanding Interest Rates and Payments

Financing gives you flexibility and control:

  • Early Payoff: Some lenders allow you to pay your loan off at any time without penalty.
  • Payment Timing: First payments are usually due 30 days after purchase.
  • Bulk Payments: All loans are simple interest loans allowing for payments over the minimum to be applied to the principal.
  • Finance Incentives: Some incentives only apply when working with the AWS Business Office team and financing through our partnered lenders, not external ones.

Is a MasterCraft Really Worth it?

Every family’s lifestyle and priorities are different. The best way to decide is to look at how you actually want to spend your free time.

Are you hoping to create lasting memories with family and friends? Do you genuinely enjoy being on the water? Do you want a boat that can handle everything from relaxed cruising to high-performance water sports? Are you excited about becoming part of a boating community?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, a MasterCraft is likely to bring you years of enjoyment and value. If those things don’t resonate with you, then a MasterCraft may not be the right investment—and that’s okay.

At Action Water Sports, our goal isn’t just to make a sale. It’s to make sure you’re happy as a boater season after season. We’re here to help you find the right fit for your family, and we’re always available to answer questions and walk through your options.
